- This is an extremely well-researched guide book on the Southern Berkshires. This book is unique in that it has many of the lesser known hiking areas in this region. The introductory overview is informative and gives you all the necessary information you need to navigate the book. An excellent resource for those visiting the Berkshires (or those already here) and looking to adventure into the outdoors and see what's so special about the Berkshires.

- Finally, there is hiking guide covering the tri-state area encompassing the Southern Berkshires. This well researched and designed guide not only provides essential information for the hike itself, but also historical and cultural perspective. What differentiates this book is that, along with well known and popular hiking destinations, many lesser known, interesting, and unique (and often overlooked) places have been included. Kudos from a Berkshire native, current resident, and avid hiker.
- A comprehensive and user-friendly guide to support novice and experienced hikers alike.
- A comprehensive guide to some of my favorite places in the world, and a motivating bucket list of new places to explore. Having worked as an outdoor guide in the Berkshires for 20 years, I thought I knew all of the best places to go, but Bill has opened the door to more natural highlights of this special corner of the world. Detailed hike descriptions, color coded levels of difficulty, and user-friendly maps set readers up for a successful experience. Tips and advice help novice hikers find their footing, and natural and local history and information offer seasoned hikers a deeper connection to the land. As I wear through the soles of my boots following in Bill's footsteps, I'm already hoping for 100 hikes in the northern Berkshires to look forward to.
